Hi friends! If you love chocolate banana loaf recipe (who doesn’t?!), you’re going to love this chocolate banana loaf. It’s one of my all-time favorite recipes that I’ve been tweaking for years to make it just right and guess what? It doesn’t have too much added sugar, because the bananas give it plenty of natural sweetness!
Method
Cream It Up
Start by taking a large mixing bowl and adding in your softened butter and brown sugar. Using a hand mixer or a whisk, cream them together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. This step is important because it gives your loaf a soft, tender texture. Make sure the butter is softened not melted so it blends smoothly with the sugar.
Banana Time
Once your butter and sugar are well combined, it’s time to add the mashed bananas. The riper your bananas, the better they’ll be sweeter and easier to mash. Mix the bananas into the creamed butter-sugar blend until the mixture is smooth and everything is well incorporated. You’ll notice the batter starting to smell sweet and banana-y already!
Egg-cellent Addition
Now crack in the eggs one at a time, mixing after each one so they fully blend in. Add the vanilla extract as well. Stir everything together until the eggs and vanilla are completely mixed into the batter. This step helps create a rich, flavorful base.
Dry Ingredients Combo:
In a separate small bowl, combine your dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir them together with a spoon or whisk. This makes sure the baking soda and salt are evenly spread through the flour, so your loaf rises properly and tastes balanced, not too salty or bland in one spot!
Mix It All Together
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture, a little at a time. Stir gently using a spatula or spoon, just until you can’t see any more dry flour. Be careful not to overmix at this stage! Overmixing can make your loaf heavy and dense instead of light and moist. Stop as soon as everything is just combined.
Time to Decorate
Now that your batter is ready, pour it evenly into a greased loaf pan. Take your chocolate chips and sprinkle them over the top of the batter. Then gently break apart your fresh raspberries and place them across the top as well. This gives the loaf a pop of color and bursts of juicy sweetness in every bite. Don’t stir them in just let them sit on top!
Bake Away
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place your loaf in the center rack. Let it bake for about 45 to 50 minutes. Around the 45-minute mark, start checking your loaf using the toothpick method: insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf, and if it comes out clean (or with just a few moist crumbs), it’s ready. If it’s still wet, bake for a few more minutes and test again.
Cool & Slice
Once your loaf is done, carefully take it out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then remove it from the pan and place it on a wire rack or plate to cool completely. This helps it set and makes slicing much easier. It might be tempting to cut into it right away, but letting it cool a bit will keep the slices neat and prevent it from crumbling.

- Check your loaf around the 45-minute mark so it doesn’t overbake. Every oven is a little different.
